Bolivian masks

Since pre-Hispanic times, masks have been used in religious ceremonies, traditional festivals and theatrical  shows. In Boliviaoran artistic expression that has been transmitted through centuries and that continues to be an important part, proof of its diversity and cultural wealth.

This pictorial series is a collection of masks from the main traditional dances of Bolivia captured from the perspective of the essence of the character who wears it, capturing the beauty and mystery of these pieces of popular art in acrylic. Together it represents a synthesis of the cultural identity that is part of the life of Bolivians today.
